I often paint still lifes  with Georgian-Svanetian ethnographic details. In this still life the rope is the symbol  of slavery, sword is the symbol  of fighting for freedom .  Burning incense (in the vessel  for incense) is  allegory  of  prayers. I  attached The ropes by two nails and  cut by the sword. I mean with it the victory of kindness over evil. The rope has fastener. With such fastener in mountain  people packed hay. I remember my holidays in Svaneti, where I spent my childhood in summers. When my grandfather brought hay it was  fastened with this  ropes and fastener  on a cart with a pair of bulls. Pleased memories…  I also placed  fruit and grapes because  Georgia is a country with great tradition of winery. The background  of this painting is the black-and-white illustration of St. George. He is one of the favorite saint for Georgians.

There are a lot of allegories in this still life. The landscapes in it are the symbol of my country. the angel behind the landscapes is the archangel  Gabriel, which announced the world the annunciation. He watches the landscapes as the sign of God  bless. Lit frankincense is the symbol of prayer of Georgian people, which is written on the parchment. The sphere in the hands of Gabriel means that Georgia is the virgin Mary country  and this prayer is the hope of Georgian people for the better future.

This is the national clothing for Georgian men, named as Choxa-Axaluxi. It was tradition to wear Silver belt and dagger by all nobleman Georgian men. White chikhtikopi on the still life is the national headdress for Georgian women and it means great respect for them. It was such tradition in Georgia: when fighting men stopped after a woman had dropped her headdress between them.
